Sleep

We are beginning to realise how important sleep is as part of health mental functioning for humans and recent research has shown the importance of various hormones in helping modulate effective sleep.

 

Without good restful sleep it is unrealistic to think that young people would be able to manage their emotions, perform well cognitively and in some extreme situations when sleep is very poor even hallucinate.

Sleep is often neglected by many but it is absolutely essential to get right as one of the most important building blocks for emotional stability, normal development and sound mental health

If sleep is an issue for your child we will take a full history including any medical issues and then review the sleep hygiene process in addition to excluding other mental health issues.

If needs be medication can be prescribed to help with sleep initiation as part of a plan that is centred around good sleep hygiene. A sleep management plan will be developed that is specific for your child to enable them to maximise the chances of getting good restful sleep and all of the benefits which that brings
